Role Overview

The New Zealand Customs Service is seeking a skilled individual to join its Proactive Intelligence team. As an Intelligence Gathering Specialist, you will play a crucial role in identifying risks to our border and disrupting transnational organised crime.

About the Role

  • You will be responsible for gathering intelligence to build the intelligence picture around criminal and non-compliant activity.
  • You will work alongside Proactive Intelligence analysts to provide accurate, timely and meaningful intelligence about the environment and individuals of interest.
  • You will undertake investigative activity and complete a range of investigative duties in pursuit of cross-border offending.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Identifying and developing targets for future investigations and supporting current Proactive investigations.
  2. Undertaking operational activity when working on and developing proactive investigations.
  3. Preparing and presenting (written and verbal) information in a clear and concise manner.
  4. Managing time effectively to complete multiple investigations and meet deadlines.
  5. Liaising both internally and with other domestic and/or international agencies.

  • A competitive salary ranging from $73,721 to $93,763.

Requirements

  • An enforcement background with experience planning and being involved in operational investigations activity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work autonomously to achieve results.
