Risk Management Professional

National Emergency Management Agency (NZ) is seeking an experienced Risk Management Professional to join our Policy Unit. In this role, you will provide expert risk management advice to government, the emergency management sector, and wider national security systems.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Helping progress an Emergency Management Bill.
  • Managing machinery of government processes.
  • Providing risk management advice during and after emergencies.
  • Analyzing and coordinating second opinion advice on policy work impacting NEMA's roles.
  • Potentially responding to national emergency responses.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in risk management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in regulatory design and developing secondary legislation.
  • Ability to think strategically about issues using systems-thinking approaches.
  • Acts with an understanding of the Crown's obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
