Job Overview: Find Zambia Jobs is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Field Assistant or Field Team Leader to join our Greater Kafue field project, contributing to the conservation of large carnivores and ecosystems in Zambia.

About the Role: As a Field Assistant or Field Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in collecting behavioral and demographic data on large carnivores and their prey, utilizing camera traps, distance sampling, and fecal sample collection methods. You will maintain accurate records using SMART mobile and desktop applications, ensuring up-to-date data entry and management duties.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify individual carnivores from photographs based on spot, whisker, and coat patterns, and assist in identification kit management using PowerPoint.">
  • Contribute to report writing, social media updates, and presentation development with partner organizations and collaborating lodges.">
  • Support logistical, administrative, and operational tasks, including cooking, cleaning, unpacking shipments, organizing vehicles, and maintaining camp and vehicle infrastructure.">

Requirements:

  • ">
  • Experience collecting and managing environmental data, preferably in ecology or wildlife management.">
  • A strong work ethic, able to adapt to remote field conditions with minimal supervision.">
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with experience in basic formulas, sorting, filtering, and creating tables/graphs.">
  • A university degree in Biology, Wildlife Management, Natural Resource Management, or a related field; or a professional safari guide operating license.">
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.">
  • The ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle will be considered advantageous.">
