Job Overview

The General Manager, Employment, Skills and Immigration Policy role involves driving meaningful policy change across the labour market to facilitate economic growth. As the successful candidate, you will lead the delivery of strategic policy advice on employment, skills, immigration, and the labour market, directly influencing New Zealand's economic future.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to the Deputy Secretary, Labour, Science and Enterprise, and the broader leadership team.

In this role, you will work closely with operational colleagues across the Ministry to translate vision into action, delivering key government priorities in a complex and dynamic environment.

You will inspire and empower your team to achieve exceptional results, fostering a culture of excellence.

Cultivating strong relationships with Ministers, senior officials, and industry leaders is crucial.

  • Demonstrate exceptional people leadership, driving performance and delivering results in a high-pressure environment.

This is a permanent role based in Wellington, and the ideal candidate will have significant experience working at a senior level in government with a good understanding of government processes and operating procedures.
