Role Summary:
This is a permanent, full-time position, 40 hours per week plus after-hours call availability that depends on whether you are participating in the ICU or acute medicine call. As a Pulmonology Physician, you will provide clinical expertise across the speciality of General Respiratory and basic Sleep Medicine.
About the Team:
Tairawhiti has a high Maori population with relatively high levels of airways disease and lung cancer. This role offers considerable opportunity to address inequitable health outcomes in a culturally diverse area.
About You:
You will need a strong commitment to comprehensive care encompassed within General Internal Medicine or Intensive Care, including full involvement in the acute roster for admission and ongoing care of undifferentiated acute adult hospital presentations. The requirements include a Medical degree and relevant board certification in Respiratory and Internal Medicine, either currently having or being eligible for specialist registration in New Zealand, experience in acute general medicine or intensive care, proficiency in performing bronchoscopies and managing lung cancer referrals, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to holistic patient care and a collaborative approach to medicine.
