Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Academic Leader to join our team as an Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer - Rotational Head of Department. The successful candidate will lead and manage a team of academics and support staff, ensuring the Department and Faculty strategic goals align with institutional objectives.

About the Role

The Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer - Rotational HOD will be responsible for providing leadership to the Senior Phase and Further Education Training (SP & FET) programme. This includes implementing department and faculty strategic goals in line with institutional objectives, membership in the Faculty Executive, Senate, and other faculty committees, academic management and administration, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and conducting and promoting research in the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of academics and support staff
  • Ensure the Department and Faculty strategic goals align with institutional objectives
  • Membership in the Faculty Executive, Senate, and other faculty committees
  • Academic management and administration

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need a relevant Doctoral qualification in Education in the Senior Phase and Further Education Training subject areas. You should also have a four-year undergraduate degree in Education or a relevant B-tech degree teaching qualification, and at least four years of relevant teaching experience in higher education. Experience in research and postgraduate supervision of students to completion, curriculum development, proven evidence of leadership qualities, knowledge of the HEQSF process, experience in financial management and budgeting, and experience in evaluating Teaching Practice are also essential.
