About the Role
As a Senior Customs Officer, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of customs officers in the Maritime Unit. Your primary objective is to protect New Zealand's maritime border by identifying and preventing the movement of prohibited goods and people. You will work closely with other agencies to share intelligence and coordinate efforts to prevent smuggling and other illicit activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of customs officers in the Maritime Unit
- Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to prevent the movement of prohibited goods and people
- Collaborate with other agencies to share intelligence and coordinate efforts to prevent smuggling and other illicit activities
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective border control

Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in customs or a related field
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
