**The Opportunity**

This run is accredited for training with the College of Australasian Physicians for both basic and advanced trainees and is accredited for training with the College of Australasian pathologists for advanced haematology training (lab and clinical). Non-training registrars, basic trainees, and advanced haematology trainees are all welcome to apply.

The position is to join a team of seven consultant haematologists and haematology registrars based at Palmerston North Hospital. The service provides haematology services to a population of approximately 500,000, which includes the geographical area of the Manawatu (Palmerston North), Whanganui, Taranaki (New Plymouth and Hawera), and Hawkes Bay (Napier, Hastings).

Inpatient care is provided at Palmerston North Hospital with outreach visiting clinics to Whanganui, Hawera, New Plymouth, and Hastings. A full range of haematology services is provided including coagulation, thrombosis, non-malignant and malignant haematology including acute myeloid leukaemia and autologous stem cell transplant.

The position would include working on the haematology inpatient ward and haematology outpatient clinics. Haematology clinics include both local clinics and monthly overnight regional clinics.

**What You Will Do**

You will work closely with a team of experienced haematologists and registrars to provide high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include participating in haematology inpatient ward rounds, attending haematology outpatient clinics, and contributing to the development of haematology services in the region.

**Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you will need to have registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You will also need to have relevant postgraduate qualifications and experience in haematology.
