About the Role

We are seeking an experienced midwife to join our Rural team, providing postnatal care to inpatients and supporting whanau in navigating the pregnancy journey. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive environment with accommodation available. As a midwife in this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing breastfeeding support, education, and emotional support to new mothers
  • Monitoring vitals according to care plans and ensuring all observations are within the normal range
  • Providing midwifery care for acute presentations, including labour and birth care, CTG monitoring, and assessing the pregnancy of someone who has presented to ED with a non-pregnancy related issue
  • Supporting LMC midwives during labour, in emergencies, or when caring for someone who is labouring/birthing when the LMC is not present
  • Providing antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care for those who have been unable to book with an LMC
  • Managing referrals to Waikato Hospital
  • Ensuring the unit is well stocked and running smoothly
  • Performing administrative tasks in the absence of admin staff
