About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Midwife to join our team at Oamaru Hospital. As a Case Loading Midwife, you will provide continuity of maternity care to whanau in the Waitaki communities. You will work in a close-knit, friendly team, providing safe, high-quality care for women and their whanau in planning to birth at our primary birthing unit, or at home.
You will be responsible for providing antenatal and postnatal care to women who have given birth at Queen Mary Hospital in Dunedin, either by choice or by necessity. This role involves collaborating with other Midwives in a flexible fortnightly rotating roster. You will coordinate resources to meet identified needs, encompassing staff and equipment, and provide clinical and professional leadership.
Key aspects of this role include ensuring discharge planning/handover of care to a well child provider processes are robust and timely. You will have access to a vehicle and be provided with all necessary equipment to enable optimal care while on-call.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must be a NZ Registered Midwife and hold a current APC. A relevant post-graduate qualification is also highly desirable. You should have a thorough understanding of case loading care in the Midwifery Council of NZ's Whanuitanga o Te Mahi / Scope of Practice.
You will be competent in the use of the Guidelines for Consultation with Obstetric and Related Services (Referral Guidelines). A current Full Drivers license is essential, as is competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
Benefits
This is a fixed-term maternity cover position until June 2025, working 0.8 FTE. We offer a competitive salary band of $130,864 - $132,941 per annum pro rata + Kiwisaver. As a valued member of our team, you will have opportunities for professional development and growth.
