The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Audit Manager/Senior Manager to join our Financial Services team in Auckland. This role involves managing the delivery of engagements to a wide range of clients, supporting junior team members, and working with some of New Zealand's largest financial services providers, including banks, insurance companies, and funds/Kiwi Saver providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare complex audit assignments, statutory audits, internal audits, investigation reports, limited reviews, proposals, and special reports.
  • Assist in planning, execution, and finalization of all areas of the audit assignment for Partner review.
  • Produce high-quality work for Partner review, highlighting issues and providing potential solutions.
  • Manage client deliverables, including attending meetings, and ensure effective use and application of KPMG Audit Manual/Methodology, auditing standards, and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Undertake strategic analysis, identify business and audit risks, assess effectiveness of client processes and controls, and perform higher-risk and non-routine audit functions.
  • Day-to-day management of junior team members, ensuring effective use of KPMG Clara and other auditing software.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) or relevant overseas professional body.
  • Financial Services experience, preferably with US – SOX accreditation.
  • Experience with KPMG auditing software, specifically KPMG Clara.
  • 4+ years of post-qualification experience working to a senior level within a Big 4 environment.
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with clients, staff, and partners.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
