Seeking a skilled Mental Health Expert to join our team in Rotorua. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our mental health services.

About Us

We are Lakes District Health Board, serving a population of over 118,000 people across 9,570 square kilometers. Our major centers of population are Rotorua and Taupo, and we work closely with the local community, including Te Arawa and Ngāti Tūwharetoa iwi groups.

The Role

This is a busy and rewarding role that offers a range of general psychiatric skills and opportunities for leadership. You will work in our in-patient unit and may rotate to community services over time. The role requires a broad range of general psychiatric skills, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of our mental health services.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve excellent patient outcomes.
  • Develop and implement new models of care, such as Te Ara Tauwhirotanga: pathways that lead us to act with kindness.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A broad range of general psychiatric skills, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Hold or be eligible for Vocational Registration with Medical Council of NZ.
  • Enjoy teaching and have experience working with medical students and registrars.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
