About the Role:

This exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Psychiatrist to join our Consultation Liaison team at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Waikato.

As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality clinical services to patients seeking wellness and their families within our region.

You will work closely with specialists, both internally and externally, to ensure excellent working relationships and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality clinical services to patients and their families within our region.
  • Apply current knowledge, skills, and attitudes in psychiatry to clinical situations and team decision-making.

About the Service:

We are the Mental Health and Addictions Service arm of Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Waikato.

Our Consultation Liaison team provides a specialized acute care service to Waikato Hospital, assessing and managing short-term care needs of clients with mental illness and medical complications.

We also support medical clinicians and teams regarding best management of mental health and addictions in a liaison role.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A Psychiatrist vocationally registered or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • A versatile and flexible clinician with a passion for working as part of a team.
  • A person who is excited about contributing to service enhancement and passionate about eliminating health inequities.
