About the Role

We are seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to fill our Trainee Customs Officer roles. As a key member of our deployment team, you will work on rostered shifts and move through a variety of work areas and locations. Your responsibilities will include conducting inspections, examinations, and audits, preventing the illegal import or export of goods, and working alongside law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders at the border.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting inspections, examinations, and audits to ensure compliance with Customs laws and regulations.
  • Preventing the illegal import or export of goods.
  • Screening passengers and cargo for prohibited items.
  • Working alongside law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders at the border.

Requirements

  • A passion for protecting our borders and affinity with what Customs does.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to handle diverse situations professionally and tactfully.
  • Great attention to detail and ability to make sound judgments under pressure.
  • A high level of integrity and commitment to an enforcement role, upholding laws, policy, and procedures.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, work in an often fast-paced environment, and be comfortable embracing technological advancements and procedural changes.
  • A good fitness level and ability to manage the requirements to work on a rostered shift work pattern.
