Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher- Resource to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students with moderate and severe disabilities in a self-contained Functional Life Skills Classroom.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), conducting assessments, and providing support to students and their families.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement IEPs in consultation with parents and IEP team members.
  • Conduct assessments and develop strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required by law and school policy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive support system for students.

Qualifications:

  • Eligible for Maine Department of Education certification in Special Education.
  • Master's degree in Special Education or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with students with moderate and severe disabilities.
  • Awareness of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavioral Support (PBS) principles.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
