**About Us**

NZ Playcentre Federation is a leading provider of early childhood education, with a rich history spanning over eight decades. Our organization empowers parents to take the lead in their children's learning through play-based activities.

We operate 400 Playcentres across the country, employing just over 700 staff members in various roles. Our Birkenhead Playcentre is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our vibrant community as a Big Kids Facilitator.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will plan and run engaging Big Kids sessions, ensuring a smooth experience for children aged between 3 and 6 years old. They will work alongside members and tamariki to facilitate learning through child-led play and positive guidance, support the development of learning stories, and contribute to the overall success of our education programme.

Purpose of the Position:

To extend play and develop children's learning potential by creating a safe and supportive environment. This role focuses on catering to the needs of older preschool children, promoting social skills, and fostering a sense of belonging among families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Big Kids sessions that meet the needs of children aged 3-6 years old.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages child-led play and exploration.
  • Collaborate with members and tamariki to develop learning stories and promote a love for learning.
  • Support the overall success of our education programme by contributing to curriculum planning and delivery.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher, or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.
  • Desirable skills and experience include knowledge of Te Whariki, commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to use technology.
