Learning Support Specialist

**Job Description**
We are seeking a highly skilled Physiotherapist to join our team of professionals dedicated to supporting children and young people with learning support needs. As a physiotherapist, you will work closely with children, families, and educators to develop and implement individualised plans that promote social inclusion and academic achievement.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in physiotherapy and experience working in inclusive educational settings. You will be able to build strong relationships with children, families, and educators, and provide high-quality, evidence-based interventions that meet the unique needs of each child.
This is a permanent, part-time position based at our office, offering a great opportunity for a work-life balance. We welcome applicants who live in the surrounding areas and are willing to commute.
Responsibilities
- Observe, assess, and work closely with children and young people with physical needs
- Build and strengthen the capability of those who are best placed to support the learning of children
- Identify, set up, and provide advice about the environmental changes, support, equipment, and technology a child or young person may need
- Enhance inclusive practices in schools and other educational settings
- Work as part of a trans-disciplinary team where a child's needs are complex
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy or its accepted equivalent
- Registration with the New Zealand Physiotherapy Board and a current practicing certificate
- Ability to apply specialist knowledge of physiotherapy theory and practice in the development of appropriate interventions in inclusive educational settings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with learners, families, and teachers across a diverse range of settings
- Ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenua
