**Job Summary:**

We are looking for a skilled Hotel Maintenance and Engineering Manager to lead our maintenance team at Distinction Hotel and Discovery Settlers in Whangarei.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of all building systems and equipment, as well as the overall cleanliness and functionality of the hotel.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Managing and leading the maintenance team, including assigning tasks, providing training, and ensuring adherence to maintenance standards.
  • Oversight of preventive maintenance programs for all hotel systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensuring all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are fully operational and well-maintained.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance requests from hotel staff and guests.
  • Coordinating with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and renovations as needed.
  • Developing and maintaining maintenance schedules, ensuring that all inspections and repairs are completed on time.
  • Implementing and maintaining safety protocols and procedures for staff and guests, including regular safety inspections.
  • Maintaining inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and use.
  • Working closely with the hotel management team to plan and execute renovation and improvement projects.
  • Tracking and reporting on maintenance activities, costs, and issues to senior management.
  • Ensuring compliance with local Council regulations related to hotel operations and safety, overseeing BWOF compliance.

About You:

  • Proven experience in hotel maintenance, facilities management, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to train, motivate, and supervise staff effectively.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and environmental best practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexible schedule, with the ability to respond to maintenance emergencies outside regular working hours.

Requirements:

  • A valid work permit or NZ residency.
  • A clean New Zealand driver's license.
