About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Protection Technician to join our team in Whakatane or Wellington. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, testing, and installation of protection systems, SCADA, and communications networks.

Your Responsibilities

  • Maintain and test protection systems, SCADA, and communications networks to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Install protection relays and assist with field-based projects.
  • Provide technical support to engineering and operations teams, offering advice on system improvements and troubleshooting electrical network issues.
  • Work safely across all electrical network environments, including zone substations, and participate in the 24/7 on-call roster.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must be a NZ Registered Electrician with 2-5 years' experience in protection systems, SCADA, PLCs, and communication networks.

You should have a strong background in low and high-voltage network systems, protection design, and testing requirements.

An understanding of industry safety standards is crucial, as well as the ability to work independently and make informed decisions under pressure.

A Manual NZ Driver's Licence and a strong commitment to safety are also essential.
