We are seeking an experienced employment lawyer to join our team as In-House Legal Counsel – Employee Relations. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a highly unionized complex organization and make a significant impact on employment law and workplace relations.
The successful candidate will have 2-4 years post-qualification experience as an employment lawyer with a current New Zealand practicing certificate or the ability to obtain one. They will have an in-depth understanding of employment-related legislation and its application in an operational environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing expert legal advice on employment law, industrial relations, and workplace matters
- Representing the organization in employment disputes, mediations, and Employment Relations Authority proceedings
- Helping to manage legal risks related to employment-related processes, personal grievances, and workplace investigations
- Maintaining constructive union engagement through collaborative working relationships with organizers and delegates
- Con tributing to keeping employment-related policies, guides, and documentation up-to-date
This role reports into the Head of Employee Relations and can be based from Auckland or Christchurch.
