About the Role
Mental Health Services at MidCentral DHBMental Health & Addiction Services (MHAS) is responsible for the commissioning and delivery of primary, specialist, and community mental health & addiction services across a diverse urban and rural population of 186,000. We provide treatment for and connection to recovery-orientated services for individuals experiencing mental illness or addiction issues.
- We deliver services across the continuum of lifespan, both regionally and locally.
- Specialist community MH&A teams
- Kaupapa (Māori)
- Child Adolescent Mental Health Services
- Inpatient services
- Crisis response
- Acutely ill patients receive immediate assessment and appropriate treatment in hospital under close supervision by medical professionals with high levels of expertise in managing complex mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia
- Accommodation options are available depending on individual needs including short-term crisis respite, medium term rehabilitation and longer-term ongoing support through supported accommodation and other service providers
The transformational change sees significant investment into digital technologies and new infrastructure, including the construction of a new state-of-the-art acute inpatient unit. This will allow us to move towards a wellness and recovery-focused approach in our community, prioritising access, choice, and care closer to home.

Our clinicians work closely together to develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to each individual's needs.
