Auckland Council is seeking a skilled Horticulturist to maintain and enhance our diverse plant collections at the Auckland Botanic Gardens. This permanent part-time role involves managing trees, gardens, and property across two days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of trees, grounds, and amenity gardens using various plant and equipment">
  • Ensuring appropriate plant introductions are made and labeling plants where necessary">
  • Maintaining records of relevant garden data">
  • Liaising with visitors, friends, volunteers, iwi, stakeholders, and commercial users to conserve plants">
  • Maintaining turf and assisting with maintenance of structures and hard landscaped areas">

Requirements:

We seek an individual with passion for working outdoors, physical fitness, and willingness to get their hands dirty in any weather conditions. Previous horticultural experience or qualification is beneficial, along with interest in growing and caring for native and exotic plants.
