Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our team at the Ministry for Vulnerable Children, Oranga Tamariki. As a Care and Protection Specialist, you will play a crucial role in developing and leading a therapeutic care approach that prioritizes the needs of rangatahi (youth).

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our Residential Youth Workers to ensure we deliver essential services that keep rangatahi safe, uphold their dignity and rights, and meet their needs. This includes providing proactive, comprehensive care and support to rangatahi while they are in our care.

You will also be involved in the daily operations of the residence, working closely with rangatahi to develop insights into who they are, what is important to them, and what they need to have their needs met and succeed. As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with mental health services within the community.

About the Role

Epuni Care is undergoing a major transformation, launching a new, robust therapeutic and rangatahi-centric residential care model. This program aims to enhance the experiences of rangatahi and our staff. Our mission is to significantly improve the lives of rangatahi placed in our care and improve their outcomes. To achieve this, we are looking for a skilled Social Worker to join our team and support the Wellington-region community.

As a Social Worker at Epuni, you will collaborate closely with our Residential Youth Workers and the wider team. Your role is to develop and lead a therapeutic care approach, ensuring we deliver the necessary services to keep rangatahi safe, uphold their dignity and rights, and meet their needs. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive, proactive care and support to rangatahi during their stay and as they transition back into the community.
