Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and strategic leader to take on the statutory role of Chief Librarian of the Alexander Turnbull Library, and the operational leadership role of Director, Library Collections within the new structure of National Library and Archives New Zealand.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in developing and managing research collections of national significance, as well as a deep understanding of the legislative and regulatory framework relevant to libraries and archives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the teams that manage the National Library and Alexander Turnbull Library collections, including access, preservation, metadata, and research services
- Exercise the functions and powers delegated under the National Library Act 2003
- Contribute to strategic development, integration of services, and ensuring Te Tiriti o Waitangi responsibilities are embedded across practice
What We're Looking For
We are seeking someone with significant experience in the library or information sector at a senior level, who has excellent relationship management and communication skills across a wide range of stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strategic agility and the ability to lead and embed change through influence and collaboration.
