About the Role

This position is responsible for leading and motivating a team to develop sustainable modal travel behaviour change programs and initiatives across Tamaki Makurau. The role requires an internal and external champion who can help communicate the need for active modes infrastructure and behavior change as an integral part of the transport system.

The key tasks include:

  • Planning, monitoring, and reporting delivery of programs with direct reports.
  • Developing and maintaining a high-performance culture with direct reports and their teams.
  • Representing Active Modes in the Senior Leadership team of the PTAM directorate.
  • Working with AT media and marketing teams to publicize and promote active modes.
  • Providing responses to enquiries from the public, media, and elected representatives.
  • Representing Auckland Transport when working with colleagues in Auckland Council, NZTA, and other strategic partners.
  • Identifying and enabling new opportunities for joint working with colleagues across the business to grow active modes and PT use.
  • Working with the Active Modes Planning Manager and Cycling Programme Manager to plan and prioritize investment in walking and cycling infrastructure.
  • Working with the Design Review Panel, capital programme leads, and project managers to ensure that safe and convenient access for active modes is integrated into scheme planning and design for major projects.

Requirements

  • A tertiary degree qualification (BA, Post Grad) in a business, communication, or transport planning discipline.
  • 10+ years in people leadership & delivering engagement, transport planning, or event programs.
  • Public administration/communication.
  • Agile Adaptation.
  • Complex stakeholder engagement in public sector.
  • Sustainability or transport program management.
