Medical Care Specialist

Job Summary
The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support in a dynamic healthcare environment. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless patient flow, accurate documentation, and exceptional communication with patients and colleagues.
Main Responsibilities:
- Timely collection and processing of laboratory specimens, adhering to federal and state regulations.
- Participating in overall treatment planning and services, contributing valuable insights to patient care.
- Preparing specimens for shipping, maintaining inventory, and organizing work environments.
- Reviewing, posting, and disseminating laboratory results efficiently.
- Completing patient vital signs, TB testing, blood draws, and comprehensive documentation.
- Collaborating with team members on lab testing, results, and patient issues.
- Facilitating timely and efficient patient flow throughout their visit.
- Maintaining accurate new and existing patient accounts, including insurance and billing information.
- Performing administrative duties to support patient flow, as assigned.
- Assisting with scheduling patient appointments and communicating with various teams.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly empathetic and compassionate approach to supporting patient recovery journeys.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations of colleagues and patients.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
- Natural problem-solving skills, prioritizing patient needs with a sense of urgency.
- Adaptability and agility within a dynamic work environment.
- Proficiency in multiple systems for communication and documentation purposes, including Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- PREFERRED: Familiarity with MS Office software (Outlook, Teams, Word, etc.).
- Familiarity with HIPAA and 42-CFR Part 2 desired.
- Prior experience with harm reduction a plus.
