About the Role

This key leadership position manages the Tukutuku Maori team, leading strategic outcomes for Maori. The role works closely with our partners to advance our partnership with Iwi and leads wide networks with Maori Organisations, Central Government, Agencies, and NGOs to achieve positive Maori outcomes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic outcomes for Maori in line with the Tupiki Ora Maori Strategy
  • Develop and provide high-level strategic advice across the Council and into cross-directorate initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure Maori perspectives and needs are integrated into operations and decision-making processes
  • Nurture and maintain relationships with Iwi, Central Government, Agencies, and NGOs
  • Empower your team to achieve required outcomes by leveraging strong leadership skills

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to unite a team and drive delivery
  • Able to engage stakeholders and develop strong relationships
  • Familiarity with te reo Maori and Tikanga, although fluency is not expected
  • Ability to assimilate diverse business unit objectives and partner with them
  • Willingness to champion Kokiritia - our Maori Capability Framework
