Job Description
We are seeking a committed and inspiring Study and Career Prep – Pre-Nursing Tutor to support students enrolled in a pre-nursing foundation programme. The successful candidate will help develop essential academic and practical skills required for entry into nursing and health-related qualifications.
The tutor will plan and deliver interactive and inclusive lessons, provide academic and pastoral support, and contribute to student success by fostering confidence and readiness for future study in the healthcare field. This role involves facilitating learning, providing student support, conducting assessments and feedback, and enhancing existing learning content with practical activities and discussions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitating Learning: Deliver engaging and relevant lessons aligned with the Study and Career Preparation – Pre-Nursing curriculum and support learners through content available on the Learning Management System.
- Student Support: Provide academic support and guidance on assignments, projects, study skills, and personal development, especially tailored to future careers in nursing and healthcare.
- Assessment & Feedback: Conduct formative and summative assessments, give timely and constructive feedback, and monitor student progress throughout the course.
- Learning Resources: Enhance existing learning content with practical activities, supplementary materials, and career-focused discussions that relate to the healthcare context.
- Individualised Learning: Support diverse learners through differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices, ensuring equitable access to success.
- Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely records of student engagement, progress, and achievements, adhering to institutional policies.
- Safeguarding: Uphold and promote safeguarding and student wellbeing in all learning environments.
- Professional Development: Participate in continuous professional development to remain current with pre-nursing education trends, practices, and pathways.
Required Skills and Qualifications
A recognised adult teaching qualification such as NZCATT L4 or equivalent is desirable. A Level 5 qualification or higher in a relevant field such as Health Sciences, Nursing, or Education is essential. Demonstrated experience in teaching or tutoring foundation-level learners, especially those preparing for nursing or health studies, is also required.
