The Opportunity:

Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced Rural Hospital Medical Specialist to join our team at Bay of Islands Hospital and Kaitaia Hospital. As a Medical Officer, you will have the opportunity to provide comprehensive medical care to patients, including those with complex and interesting cases.

About Our Locations:

Bay of Islands Hospital is located in Kawakawa and provides care to the people of the Mid North region. The 20-bed hospital includes comprehensive medical and paediatric services with all the supporting services and also provides a substantial community health service.

Kaitaia Hospital is a small rural hospital serving a widely scattered population of approximately 24,000. The 28-bed hospital has a mixed general, paediatric and maternity ward with all the supporting services.

Your Responsibilities:

As a Rural Hospital Medical Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients, including those with complex and interesting cases. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary teams to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.

Requirements:

  • To be considered, you must have or be eligible for specialist (or locum tenens) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in a Rural Hospital Medicine Vocational scope of practice.
  • You should have a clear path towards vocational registration in rural hospital medicine.
