Environment Canterbury is seeking an experienced Principal Consents Planner to lead our Consents Section. In this role, you will provide technical and planning expertise and leadership, supporting the development of team members through mentoring and coaching.

**Key Accountabilities:**

  • Make informed decisions on resource consent applications
  • Develop and implement effective consenting strategies
  • Build capacity within the Consents Section through training and mentorship
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including Maori and the wider community

**Qualifications and Experience:**

  • Postgraduate qualification in Resource Management, Natural Science or Planning field desirable
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a planning/resource management field
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong understanding of Maori culture and the Treaty of Waitangi
