About the Opportunity: Wright Civil is seeking an experienced Drainlayer to join our team in the Waikato and Auckland regions. This is a great opportunity to work with a leading provider of civil construction services and contribute to our success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and carry out drainage installation for civil construction projects.
  • Lead a small team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications to ensure accurate installation.
  • Set and record levels using a dumpy level and laser level.
  • Setup and operate a pipe laser for correct alignment and fall.
  • Work in shielded trenches and wet ground conditions, ensuring safe and effective drainage.
  • Operate machinery for excavation, drainage, and backfilling as required.
  • Coordinate with site supervisors and contractors to keep projects on track.
  • Ensure all work meets council and project specifications.
  • Maintain a strong focus on health and safety compliance.

Requirements:

  • Certified or highly experienced Drainlayer with a background in civil drainage.
  • Proven ability to run a crew and manage daily site operations.
  • Experience working in shielded trenches and challenging ground conditions.
  • Strong skills in reading plans, setting levels, and using surveying equipment.
  • Ability to operate excavators and other machinery for drainage and backfilling.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • A strong commitment to health & safety on-site.
  • Full driver's license (WTR endorsements preferred but not essential).
