Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and results-driven individual who can work across various locations to assist our projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms using fasteners, rod bending machines, blowtorches, or hand tools.
  • Spacing and fastening together rods in forms according to blueprints, using wire and pliers.
  • Determining quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions.
  • Placing blocks under rebar to hold the bars off the deck when reinforcing floors.
  • Cutting rods to required lengths using metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, or acetylene torches.
  • Cutting and fitting wire mesh or fabric using hooked rods and positioning fabric or mesh in concrete to reinforce concrete.
  • Bending steel rods with hand tools or rod bending machines and welding them with arc-welding equipment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 1 year steel fixing relevant experience or qualification equivalent to NZQF level 2 or 3.
  • Friendly, good time management, and excellent work ethic.
  • A commitment to learning and developing their skills within the industry.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety procedures.
  • Reliable and hardworking.
Pay Conditions

The hourly rate for this role is between $27.76 and $30 per hour, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work.
