About the Role:
The Safety and Injury Prevention Specialist will be responsible for implementing the national Moving and Handling Policy within the district. This entails developing and implementing a risk-based programme plan for Moving and Handling across the district, educating staff on appropriate and safe moving and handling practices, and working in collaboration with nurse educators and coaches to support department-based training and ensure staff are meeting competencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing the national Moving and Handling Policy
  • Developing and implementing a risk-based programme plan
  • Providing consultation and advice on moving and handling hazards and problem-solving controls
  • Contributing to recommendations for cost-effective capital expenditure for equipment or infrastructure to manage moving and handling hazards

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will require a strong understanding of moving and handling techniques and skills in the clinical and non-clinical environment, as well as experience in occupational health and safety practice, injury prevention, and education and health risk management principles. Additionally, you will need to have the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team and the wider organisation, and have knowledge and experience in delivering education to adults and implementing effective learning strategies that transition to multiple work environments.
