We are seeking an experienced and skilled Chef to join our team at Empire Hotel Featherston Limited. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cooking, menu planning, staff management, and kitchen organization.
About the RoleThis is a full-time position that requires the ability to work well under pressure and maintain high standards of quality and presentation. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking food for customers, following recipes and ensuring timely service. They will also design, plan, and price menus, train and supervise kitchen staff, and delegate tasks effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Cooking: Prepare and cook food for customers, following recipes and ensuring timely service.
- Menu Planning: Design, plan, and price menus.
- Staff Management: Train and supervise kitchen staff, and delegate tasks.
- Kitchen Organization: Set up the kitchen with equipment, and keep work areas clean and safe.
- Ordering: Order food supplies and cooking equipment, and keep records of supplies.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of menu planning and preparation.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage kitchen staff.
- Able to work well under pressure and maintain high standards of quality and presentation.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and able to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including:
- A base salary of $NZ 60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
