About the Role

As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Dental Therapist/Oral Health Therapist's day-to-day clinical activities. This includes chairside assistance, patient records management, infection prevention and control, sterilization processes, and clinical administration.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Eastern Bay of Plenty team provides dental services to children aged 0-12 years (Year 8) in a region covering Edgecumbe to Ruatahuna and out to Waihou Bay. The service comprises two fixed-base clinics and three mobile units. Some rural areas require overnight stays, with staff paid an allowance plus food, accommodation, and travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide chairside assistance to Dental Therapists/Oral Health Therapists during clinical procedures.
  • Manage patient records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Contribute to infection prevention and control measures, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Assist with sterilization processes and clinical administration tasks.
