**Job Overview:**

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team working in the Emergency Department at Canterbury District Health Board. As an Advanced Practitioner, you will play a key role in providing high-quality occupational therapy services to patients in the ED area.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' clinical experience and proven advanced clinical skills and knowledge of the acute hospital setting. They will be able to demonstrate clinical leadership expertise and experience in leading quality improvement initiatives.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering specific occupational therapy assessments, including frailty and head injury assessment. You will work collaboratively with patients from diverse social and cultural backgrounds and contribute towards service improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive assessments to support discharge to home or admission to the hospital for patients seen in the ED area
  • Work as part of an IDT Allied Health team to further develop IDT working in this area
  • Identify and contribute towards service improvement initiatives
  • Mentor and supervise other colleagues within the wider Occupational Therapy service

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning/interpretation within scope and competency, and problem-solving skills
  • 5 years' clinical experience with experience/knowledge of working in acute care environments and older persons health
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, developing positive interpersonal relationships and working flexibly within the inter-disciplinary team
  • Registration with the NZ Occupational Therapy Board and current Annual Practicing Certificate (or eligibility to obtain)
