The New Zealand Government is seeking a Treaty Relations Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with iwi and Māori communities to develop and implement policies and programs that promote Māori health and well-being.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with iwi and Māori communities to understand their needs and aspirations.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve Māori health outcomes.
  • Providing advice and guidance to government agencies and other stakeholders on Māori Crown relations and Treaty obligations.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including iwi, Māori organizations, and government agencies.
  • Collaborating with other teams to develop and implement policy and program initiatives that promote Māori health and well-being.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification in a health or relevant field and/or equivalent stakeholder, iwi, and Māori community engagement experience.
  • Ability to operate in te ao Māori contexts, including understanding of tikanga, kawa and te reo Māori.
  • Knowledge and experience in Māori Crown relations, Treaty settlement relationships, Māori health or a relevant field.
  • Proven organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities, and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Previous experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice.
