About The Opportunity

Outlier is seeking talented writers with a STEM background and fluency in English to help train generative artificial intelligence models. This freelance opportunity allows you to work remotely and at flexible hours, enabling you to contribute your expertise while balancing other responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reading English text to rank responses produced by an AI model
  • Writing and rewriting prompts and responses, which may involve research and fact-checking
  • Assessing the factuality and relevance of text produced by AI models

Desirable Expertise

  • Professional experience with writing or editing
  • Currently enrolled in or completed a bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM discipline at a selective institution
  • A strong sense of writing style paired with exceptional English-language spelling and grammar as well as logic and reasoning skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to explain clearly the strengths and weaknesses of a given piece of text

Compensation

Pay rates for core project work by English writing experts in the US average USD $25 per hour. Rates vary based on expertise, skills assessment, location, project need, and other factors. Certain projects offer incentive payments.
