Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children Full time

About Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children

We work to advance the wellbeing and positive long-term outcomes of children and young people. With a team of over 3,500 staff across New Zealand, we support families and whānau to provide a safe, stable and loving home for their children.

Clinical Services is a key specialist service within our organisation, providing psychological and therapeutic assessments and specialist interventions.

This role offers a diverse and varied experience that provides flexibility in the use of evidence-based intervention tools to achieve positive outcomes for tamariki and their whanau. Reporting to the Psychologist Team Leader, the successful candidate will gain exposure to comprehensive specialist parenting assessment work, assessments of children with complex care and protection histories, and other therapeutic interventions.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in a care and protection environment, providing assessment and therapy with tamariki and their whanau/caregivers, and assessments of parenting capacity. They will also have the ability to liaise with community providers and work with a number of differing ethnicities including Maori and Pacifica clients.

As part of our commitment to culturally appropriate services, we recognise and value the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
