The Opportunity

This role offers a unique chance to make a difference in the lives of tangata whai ora living in the beautiful rural area of Waikato. As a Clinical Mental Health Professional, you will be part of a dynamic team that provides assessment and treatment for those with acute or enduring mental illness in the community.

About the Team

The Rural South Sector provides a range of secondary care mental health services across the South Waikato and King Country region. Our base is in Te Awamutu with outreach clinics located in Tokoroa, Te Kuiti, and Taumarunui. As a member of our team, you will be based in Te Awamutu for the majority of the time but may be required to support at other bases if needed.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and risk assessments to inform care planning
  2. Develop and implement collaborative recovery plans that prioritize the needs and goals of each individual
  3. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care to tangata whai ora, including consultant psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and nurses
  4. Engage in ongoing professional development and training to enhance your skills and knowledge, including cultural competency and trauma-informed practice

Requirements

  • Registration with Allied Health or Nursing Council of New Zealand
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with tangata whai ora and their whanau
  • Experience in working with diverse populations, including Maori and Pacific peoples
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • A current full driver's license
