About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and culturally responsive individual to join our research team as a Research Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an important health research study focused on improving palliative care for Cook Islanders in New Zealand.
The study aims to develop and test a culturally safe model of care that addresses the unique needs of Cook Islander communities, ensuring dignity, respect, and holistic support for patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of the research study, including participant recruitment, data collection, and community engagement.
- Conduct interviews and focus groups with Cook Islands families and healthcare providers.
- Support the analysis of qualitative data, ensuring cultural sensitivity and accuracy.
- Collaborate with Cook Islands community leaders, cultural advisors, and healthcare professionals to ensure the study is culturally safe and community-led.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and academic publications.
- Help organize community consultations and dissemination events to share findings with stakeholders.
About You
The ideal candidate will be flexible in their working hours and willing to travel around Tamaki Makaurau for data collection. Previous experience working in a research/health and/or a community-based role; a post-graduate health-related qualification will be an advantage.
The successful applicant will work in partnership with others on the research team to actively contribute to the successful completion of all study aims and objectives.
