Seeking a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Waitematā in Auckland, Aotearoa. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality mental health services to older adults and their whānau.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to lead our Mental Health Services for Older Adults (MHSOA) team. You will be responsible for providing clinical leadership, teaching, and supervising psychiatry trainees, house officers, and medical students.

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to improving services and increasing positive outcomes, particularly for Māori. You will work collaboratively with our community teams, inpatient unit, and sub-acute and rehabilitation team to provide comprehensive care to our patients.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to service development, planning, and quality improvement initiatives. Our service operates a clinical governance model, ensuring close involvement of clinicians in decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to the MHSOA team
  • Teach and supervise psychiatry trainees, house officers, and medical students
  • Contribute to service development, planning, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with community teams, inpatient unit, and sub-acute and rehabilitation team
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate or be eligible for application
  • Full and clean driving licence
  • A willingness to commit to improving services and increasing positive outcomes, particularly for Māori
