Job Overview:

The Gisborne District Council is seeking a highly skilled Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of safe and clean drinking water to our community.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to work in a fast-paced environment, managing the daily operation of our water treatment plants. You will be responsible for monitoring plant performance, responding to transgressions, and escalating issues to the duty operator as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operation of our water treatment plants.
  • Monitor plant performance and respond to any issues or transgressions.
  • Ensure all projects meet specified requirements and comply with technical, regulatory, and safety standards.
  • Operate within a quality management system and participate in the implementation of stated procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with the wider water team and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • National Certificate in Water Treatment (Level 4) or equivalent qualification in water.
  • Experience in water treatment methods or treatment facility operation and management.
  • Physically fit and accustomed to outdoor work.
  • Full current NZ motor vehicle driver's licence (auto & manual) - 4WD experience.
  • Ability to be an effective team player.
  • Computer skills – Microsoft Office, with the ability to utilise other packages with training.
