Job Overview

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Solicitor Prosecutions to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing operational legal advice and prosecution services on various matters.

Main Responsibilities

• Conduct prosecutions in the District Court in accordance with relevant policy and legislation.
• Provide legal advice on OIA requests and support business units with managing legal risk.
• Offer operational improvement advice, including search warrants and production orders.
• Support the continuous improvement training of frontline compliance staff.

Requirements

• A good level of trial and court experience, equivalent to level 3 classification.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to provide well-researched, contextualized, and solution-focused legal advice.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
• Full clean driving license and current full New Zealand driver's license.
