About the Position
Xero is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join our Incident and Problem Management team. As a Technical Duty Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing scalable process frameworks and observability strategies to ensure rapid problem diagnosis and response.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing scalable process frameworks and observability strategies to ensure rapid problem diagnosis and response
- Collaborating with product teams to analyze failures and integrate insights to improve service reliability and operational efficiency
- Leading the transformation to a world-leading SRE organization by promoting SRE principles within the Engineering Department
- Owning the incident management process to ensure it drives streamlined decision-making and quick resolution during critical outages
About the Team
The Incident and Problem Management team is part of the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) organization at Xero. We are responsible for building robust processes and tooling around incident management, driving enduring reliability across all products and services within Xero.
Requirements
- Previous career experience as a Site Reliability Engineer in an Operations or Engineering environment
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting AWS hosted services
- Networking knowledge and ability to troubleshoot TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, DNSSEC, IPsec, and BGP issues
- Coding experience preferably in Python building tools, scripting, or automation
- Strong communication skills including the ability to translate technical issues/concepts into agreed actions
