Job Description

As a Community Facilitator, you will provide a service that helps individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals by working alongside them, develop their skills and abilities to live independently in the home of their choice, and enhance inclusion in the communities of their choice. You will assist and support employment opportunities as they arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside individuals with disabilities to develop their skills and abilities
  • Support individuals to live independently in their chosen home
  • Enhance inclusion in the communities of choice
  • Assist and support employment opportunities as they arise

Required Skills and Qualifications

You will have some experience supporting or working with people with disabilities. Ideally, you will have a NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing (Support Worker) Level 3 or 4, or an equivalent qualification. We will support staff to complete this if needed. Other required qualifications include:

  • The ability to work autonomously and be part of a team
  • The ability to be flexible with working hours and approach
  • The ability to think on your feet and use initiative
  • An open mind and a willingness to learn
  • A calm nature with a sense of humour
  • A reliable vehicle
  • A current first aid certificate would be an advantage
  • Completed or working towards a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Education, Psychology, or a related field would be an advantage but not essential
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
