About the Role

The General Manager, New Zealand Government Procurement (NZGP) will lead a high profile ambitious system change in government procurement. The role involves providing cross-government leadership and capability to achieve effective and efficient results from Government's procurement activities. As a key member of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, you will drive best practice and support the Minister for Economic Development to deliver strategic objectives for procurement.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver the All-of-Government procurement programme
  • Provide policy advice on Government Procurement
  • Maintain technical capabilities to respond to emerging procurement and all-of-government contract opportunities
  • Build and enhance the overall capability of the Government Procurement Branch

Key Requirements

You will need to have an ability to operate effectively as a Public Sector General Manager, leading a large branch and delivering a significant work programme. Strong internal and external working relationships, including with Ministers and senior officials, are essential. You should also have demonstrated ability to think strategically and work through complex political situations with high ambiguity and under pressure.
