Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Canine Trainer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the training and handling of our medical detection dogs, ensuring they receive the highest level of care and attention. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing effective training programs that meet the needs of our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective training programs for medical detection dogs
- Train and handle medical detection dogs to ensure they meet the required standards
- Ensure the fitness, welfare and safety of medical detection dogs
- Follow required sample handling policies and procedures
- Conduct scent imprinting and search development of medical detection dogs
Requirements
- Experience in training and handling dogs in a scent detection capacity
- A strong knowledge and understanding of canine behavior, motivation and learning psychology
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- An agile mind with the ability to think on your feet and problem solve
- A full clean driver's license and confidence to drive a van
- A strong knowledge of IT to confidently use and create, process and store all forms of electronic data
