Job Description

In this Risk Analysis Specialist role, you will play a crucial part in assessing and managing the risks associated with overseas investment. You will work closely with our Applications Team to ensure that all applications align with the Overseas Investment Act 2005.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse complex legal and commercial information to identify key issues and risks.
  • Assess and provide advice on overseas investment risk, which can include national interest and national security risk.
  • Collaborate with other NZ government agencies to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Present analysis and recommendations to decision-makers, applicants, and the wider public.
  • Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to overall improvements of our system and regulatory regime.

Requirements

  • A relevant tertiary degree in law, economics, commerce, accounting, or prior experience in a relevant field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills aligned with strong relationship management skills.
  • Ability to see the 'bigger picture' and identify key issues from complex information.
  • An understanding of the machinery of government and prior exposure to our national security system would be beneficial.
  • You will either have or will be required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret national security clearance.
