About the Team

The Regional Operations Group is responsible for delivering conservation work on the ground through our biodiversity, recreation/historic, community engagement, and visitor centre teams. As a Community Ranger, you will be part of this team and contribute to achieving our vision of seeing nature thrive in Aotearoa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and assess applications for activities on Public Conservation Land, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and implement strategies to protect and restore nature across New Zealand.
  • Work closely with iwi and local communities to gather advice and integrate their perspectives into land-use decisions.
  • Provide administrative, liaison, and advocacy support to community-led projects.

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of conservation values and the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • A valid full driver's license.
